Rocky Mount, here we come!

So, we have now bought a new house in Rocky Mount. Ofcourse nothing is official until closing day, but everything is under contract. I had narrowed it down to 5 houses while Brandon was in Texas and when he came back we went to look at all 5. One had already sold over the weekend and after looking at the rest Brandon only wanted to make an offer on 1 of the 4 remaining. Luckily, this was my favorite one!! I am so excited and hope that everything goes smoothly from now until Dec. 29 which is when we close on our new house. Here are some pics of it.

Yes, the pool comes with it!

I would have put more pics, but I felt kind of weird putting photos with someone elses furniture/stuff in it. Once we move in, I will post more pics.

Business or Pleasure??

Brandon went on a "business" trip to Valentine, Texas to go hunting. He was gone for a week and Brent and I missed him SO MUCH! Brandon hates to fly and has some "doctor ordered" assistance to help him with his flying fears.

Funny story...so, Brandon went Mule Deer hunting and was only allowed to kill one deer. When it was his turn to shoot, he shot the deer but did not kill it. He went to shoot again and when he did, another deer standing not too far from this one fell dead. Brandon continued to shoot until he killed the deer he originally shot. He later found out that his second bullet ricocheted off of a rock and hit the second deer from the back side. How crazy is that!?!? The owner of the ranch couldn't get mad because it was a complete accident!

They were really roughing it... this is what that rode around on to hunt for deer. Brandon is sitting up front.

Pronghorn Antelope.

Brandon is on the right.

A Bitter Sweet Move

Brandon and I have been trying to sell our house for about 8 months now. Brandon is now working in Rocky Mount and we decided it would be best to move closer to his work. Well, we put our house under contract the day before Thanksgiving and have to be out TWO DAYS before Christmas! Kind of crazy but we are excited about the move. We love Washington and and our little home here. We have really made a family here with the people at our Church. We have also enjoyed being an hour from Brandon's family as well as mine. The move is carrying us further away from Brandon's family but closer to mine...like i said, bitter sweet. We are supposed to be choosing a house tomorrow. We really look forward to making new memories and meeting new people but we will certainly miss the ones we are leaving behind!

It's so Amazing...

It's so amazing the things that excite you as a parent. Brent rolled over for the first time today! Yay!!! It's funny because I was actually talking with a friend about it this morning at church and told her that he was getting so close. I tried to get him to do it again but he let me know that once was all I was getting for now.

Brent is growing up SO FAST I'm almost afraid to blink. He is talking so much! He is quite the little vocal guy. Brent has recently discovered his hands and keeps them in his mouth. He also recently discovered his bottom lip which is the cutest thing ever because he is constantly chewing on it with his little gummy mouth. We love him so much and just can't get enough!

I love this pic! Don't they look so handsome?! Brent is wearing a "Future Missionary" tag given to him by Grandma Compton.

The Cutest Hunter on the Club

Brent had his first hunting trip this past weekend. We got up at 5:00 am and went hunting back on the Hunting Club in Hyde County Saturday morning. He slept, pooped, cried, laughed, ate, and made lots of noise...oh, the life of a baby. Brandon exclaimed, "Why is he making so much noise!?" I informed him, "He always makes this much noise, we're just not used to needing him to be so quiet". Needless to say we didn't last too long, and we didn't see a single deer. However, we did see a HUGE bear. Regardless, it was fun and a firts of many more to come!

Brent is 2 months!

Brent had his 2 month check-up yesterday. It was a sad one because he had to get 3 shots! Brent is growing so fast. The doctor can't believe how much weight he has put on (since they initially diagnosed him as a slow weight-gainer). He is now 12 lbs. 9 oz. (75th %), 22.5 inches long (25-50th %) and has a head circumference of 15.5 inches (25-50th %). He is really starting to show alot of personality and is so much fun! He loves to make eye contact and smile and laugh. He has the most contagious smile! We love him so much more everyday and can't imagine life without this special little guy!

Brent was so dramatic after getting his shots. It was hilarious! He finally passed out on the couch after whimpering for awhile.

Now that's some good sleep!

This is how Brent normally is. Grinning and loving life. I love this pic of him. He looks like such a little chunker!

Brent's First Halloween!

I already posted pics of Brent in his Halloween costume (the cowboy). We went to the church to participate in the Trunk-or-Treat for Brent's first Halloween. Although I'm sure he had no idea what was going on he seemed to enjoy himself. Here are some candid pics of the day.

This is Brent in his Halloween onsie that his Nana Cutrell gave him. The letters glowed in the dark.

Here is Brent half-way dressed in his costume. My sister Courtney is helping. Thank goodness for Aunts!

Here is Brent dressed and ready to go! We waited to put his boots and hat on because they are still to big for him and fall off.

Brent's First Pics

I took Brent to Portrait Innovations in Greenville to have his picture taken 2 weeks ago. I was worried because he was asleep when we got there. However, I was able to wake him up and he was surprisingly really good the whole time. Here are some of the pics that were taken.

This is Brent in his Halloween outfit...too cute for words!

I love this one because he is sucking on his hand.

Those are my hands, ofcourse.

Brent is 1 Month!

Brent had his 1 month doctor appointment last Thursday. He has really gained ALOT of weight. When Brent was born he weighed 7 lb. 11 oz. and was 20.5 in. long. Two days after he was born he lost 10 oz. and the doctor made me double up on feedings. I am now happy to say that our little boy weighs 9 lb. 8 oz (which is 50th percentile) and is 21.25 in. long (which is 50th-75th percentile). So he has technically gained 2 lb. 7 oz. in 4 weeks! The doctor said she doesn't think Brent liked them diagnosing him with "slow weight gain". Haha...me neither!

1st Day at Church

Yesterday was Brent's first day going to church. The doctor told us to wait 2 months but that was just way too long so we waited for a month. He looked so cute in his little church outfit. He did pretty well-slept the whole time. I can't complain about that. Church is such an important part of mine and Brandon's lives. We hope to teach Brent the same morals and beliefs as he grows up. Brent and I have already started reading scripture together. We are reading in the Book of Mormon right now. I read to him once or twice a day during feeding time. Right now we are in 2 Nephi 8. Feeding time is such good bonding time!

Welcome!

Okay, so this is my very first blog and I really don't know what I'm doing. Trial and error I guess. Since I am officially a "mommy" now I really want to have a way for people to keep track of our little growing family. Brent is now 3 weeks and 5 days old. Motherhood is a lot different than I thought. For some crazy reason I thought it was going to be easy. I mean, I babysat growing up all the time and was always around little babies...man was I wrong! I underestimated the difference between caring for a kid for a few hours and being completely responsible for another human being's existence. WOW! Nonetheless, I love being a mom even more than I thought I would and I feel so blessed to have such a beautiful, healthy baby boy in my life. Every day gets a little easier and feels a little more natural. Brent is sleeping right now in his bouncer in his crib. We found out he has acid reflux so he can't sleep laying flat on his back anymore...bless his tiny heart! Here is a picture of him. So precious!! He is so angelic while sleeping.
