18 months of surprises

Owen turned 18 months a couple weeks ago.  Man, where did the time go?  There is so much I could say about this little guy.  He is certainly one-of-a-kind and always keeps us guessing.

So, in a nutshell Owen loves....baths, sprinklers, singing, mama (total mama's boy ;), making messes, food!!!, animals, balls, dancing, books, sun/eyeglasses, anything Brent does, his blankie, his crib....

Owen does NOT like...shoes, socks, hats (he pretty much would prefer to go naked), being told 'no', shopping (hates! it)...

Since Owen is now 18 months, he gets to go to nursery. And he loves it.  Can I get a halelujah!!

Funny story.  We went picking strawberries the other day as a family.  This was Owen's first time.  At, first he wasn't all that interested.  Then he realized there was food growing on the ground.  Nice...

So, he sat down and made himself comfortable between 2 rows of strawberries and chowed down!

A couple minutes later we realized he had wandered off to the end of the row and was very distracted with something.  I sent Brent to check on him, and this is what we found:

Happy Easter!!

Our Easter celebration lasted a week long and included 3 egg hunts, candy, good food, good company, and lots o' fun.

We started with our annual Easter Egg Hunt at Nana and Da's.

I call Owen our "flower child" because his list of favorite activities include: sitting in the grass, gazing up at the sky, and chasing bubbles. Love this kid ;)

Not only did Brent and Owen get to hunt for eggs, they got prizes for doing it.  Brent got this Thomas hat.

Owen and his cousin, Nathan hanging out in the stroller.

Next, was the Easter Egg Hunt at our church.

Owen was beginning to catch on here.

Later that day we had an Easter Egg Hunt/Cookout at a friend's house.

Brandon was able to squeeze in a little football.  Look at that handsome man :)

Owen got his finger stuck...

 fell down the steps...
and hated the golf cart...so we left.

Church Easter Morning:
Sweet cousins!

We had a special Easter Sunday because we were able to go to my brother Christian's church and be with him as he received the Melchizedek Priesthood.  What a perfect way to be reminded of our Savior and his atoning sacrifice for us!  Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

The crafty side of me

There is a crafty side to me. It doesn't come out that often. And when it does, the perfectionist side of me usually ruins the fun. I'm just not a naturally crafty person. I have all these great ideas in my head but am not always the best at executing them. Which usually leads to a lot of frustration.

Well, I found this really cute monogrammed door hanging thingy on pinterest and decided I would give it a try. So glad I did because it turned out super cute and I did it for under 10 bucks! (they sell them on etsy for $30!) Here is the link from pinterest if you are interested for yourself.

Soccer Season

Let me just start off by saying how much I LOVE sports. Now, I am not a big follower of sports teams (that's Brandon's hobby), but I do love to play sports and watch live sports games. Growing up, I played just about every sport a girl could play (volleyball, basketball, softball) except soccer. My brothers and sister were always big into soccer but somehow I missed that boat. Brandon never played soccer either. But it's a sport, so we love it.

Brent also loves sports. I mean, he is a typical boy and has been carrying around and throwing balls ever since he could grasp objects. We figured soccer would be a good sport to start him out in since all you do (at this age) is run around and kick a ball. PERFECT! He has had a couple practices and his first game last week. So far, it has been so much fun. Imagine, a bunch of 3 and 4 year olds running around chasing the same ball. It's hilarious. Brent really likes it but plays differently than we expected. He is usually a very aggressive person. So far, he has been more of a spectator on the field. It's so cute. I'll be happy with whatever wholesome hobbies my children choose to fill their time with. But if Brent could have it his way, he would play soccer and Owen would play football:) We'll see....

Practice..

Yay Brent!
