and the flower pot won

Last Friday we had our first trip to the E.R. with Brent.  We almost made it 3 years.  Not that 3 years was a goal I had or anything but still.  Brent was running through the house, tripped (on nothing) and fell.  His face smashed right into a flower pot.  At the time I felt very unlucky because that was the only thing in the floor that he could have possibly hit.  And then he had to go and hit it with his head.  But after speaking with many nurses and a couple doctors I realised we were very fortunate that he hit right in between his eyes and managed to miss both of them.

So after 1 hour at urgent care and 3 hours in the emergency room, we came home with a glued up head and a very, VERY tired mommy.  Brent was such a champ!  He actually held the wash cloth to his wound all the way to the hospital to stop the bleeding.  Thankfully, my dad was able to meet us there and help with Owen because Brandon was 2 hours away working.

It all worked out and Brent is back to his crazy, rambunctious self.  Here's hoping that it won't leave a bad scar and if it does, here's hoping all the chick's will dig his cool scar. ;)

Mobility

Mobility comes in all different ways as a baby.

It seems like crawling would be the simplest way to go.

However, I do appreciate my son's creativity when it comes to mobility.

It looks like he is trying to crawl.
 Or maybe just doing yoga??

Here is some kicking and rolling:

I guess it doesn't matter how he gets there.  Just that he does.  This is where I found him the other night while we were getting ready for bed.  I left him for 3 min. to take Brent potty.
This is underneath Brent's bed by the way.

2011 Annual Waves Trip

Every year for the past 4 years we have vacationed with Brandon's family for a week in Waves, NC.  We always look forward to this trip because it is filled with good food, long days in the sun (which leads to good naps :), and lots of fun with family!

Cuddle time with Daddy!
Owen loves loves LOVES water!  He would stick his face in the pool and try to swim.  I could sit him down on the beach and he would play with sand for up to an hour!

Owen took several naps on the beach.

It was so nice to go soak in the hot tub after a long day of hard play.
Owen and his newest cousin: Nathan
Brent decided he wanted to potty train on vacation (figures).  So we scattered some treats throughout the week to reward him for being successful.  This boy is obsessed with trains right now.  We found out about this toy store at the beach that is known for their Thomas collection.  Every Thursday they have an activity where you can go paint your own train.  We took Brent to do this and afterwards he played in this room filled with Thomas gear and a tv playing Thomas movies.  He was in HEAVEN.  Cried his eyes out when we left.
As always, Da's birthday fell during this week so we celebrated by going out to eat and coming home for cake.  This is all of the grandchildren except Owen.  He had already crashed.
Brent had a lot of fun playing with his cousin Noah when he was there.
I swear, Daddy always gets the good cuddles.
I know I'm partial, but I could seriously just eat him up!
Now that all our summer vacations are over, I am officially ready for Fall.  Bring on the cooler weather!

Fun with Cousins

A couple weeks ago we had 2 of Brent and Owen's cousins come stay with us for a few days and we had so much fun!  They are awesome girls and are such a big help with Brent and Owen.

We went bowling the first night they were here:

Deanna
Me :)  Look at the form!
 Brent and Daddy
 Kara
Kara stealin' sugars.  That is one happy baby!

We also went to the Marbles Museum in Raleigh:

We went to the mall one day and rode the train (one of Brent's new favs).

I feel so fortunate that we live close enough to some of Brent's cousins to do things like this.  We loved having you girls!!
