Brent and I both ran our first race this past weekend. We participated in the Fun Run for Charities in Rocky Mount. I ran the 5k and Brent ran the kid's sprint. I have been training for a couple months now and Brent just runs all the time anyways. It was a lot of fun and I reached my goal of running the whole race without stopping. The best part was watching Brent race. So cute! and he loved it!
This was right before I crossed the finish line. I promise I was a lot more tired than I look.
I was pretty happy with this time considering it usually takes me longer when I run at home.
8 Crayola Moms ran the race. I came in 3rd out of the 8.
After they blew the horn Brent just stood there and looked around while the other kids started running. I had to yell "GO BRENT! RUN!" (he's all the way to the left)
I love the expression on his face. Such a funny little smirk!

A Truck Like Daddy's
We decided that we were going to get Brent a power wheels for his birthday this year. Since his birthday is in September, we wanted to go ahead and get it for him so he could enjoy it all summer long. I thought for sure that my little boy would want one of those John Deere tractors. But when I took him to the store a month ago to show them to him he was dead set on a truck like Daddy's. So, this weekend, that's what he got. And he is in love! He drove it for 2 solid hours today until the battery finally died. He is acutally a lot better at driving it than I thought too. He drove into the fence, a bush, and his tricycle, but other than that, he mostly just drove around in circles:)

Bunnies and Eggs and Family!
Easter is such a wonderful holiday for so many reasons. First and foremost for the celebration of our Savior and the sacrafice that he made for all of us. Secondly, it's just another reason to get together as family and enjoy each other's company and eat good food. Thirdly, I love Easter and Spring decorations. All the bright beautiful colors and plant life makes me so happy! And lastly, it is so much fun to watch children run around hunting for eggs and have the Easter Bunny come visit and bring lots of cool toys for the kiddies and yummy chocolate for me!!
Brent's Nana started a tradition this year of having her own Easter Egg hunt in her yard for all of her Grandchildren. It was a lot of fun. We also got to decorate eggs which is a tradition in their family.
Easter morning was really nice. The Easter Bunny came and left the boys some really nice things. He left a bubble machine and it was blowing bubbles as they came into the room. The look on Brent's face was priceless! Owen seemed pretty tickled with everything too (refer to pic).

Waterfowl Park and The Zoo
Last year, for my birthday I received a year membership to hundreds of zoos, aquariums, museums, etc. It expired the end of April so we crammed in a couple of trips this past month to get our money's worth.
The Waterfowl Park is in Scotland Neck, NC which is only 40 min. from our house. Here are some photos from our trip...
We visited the Asheboro Zoo last year but only got to see half of it because it is so big. We decided we were going to see the other half this year but actually just ended up seeing the same half again. We gave Brent the option of going to see the lions, giraffes, zebras, monkeys (African animals) or the bears (North American animals) and he chose Africa again. I can't say I blame him. Here are some photos...
so apparently I didn't get any photos of Owen. Oops! He was there, I promise :)
