What a pair!

Brandon separated his shoulder a couple weeks ago and hasn't been able to do ANYTHING with his left arm ever since. He started physical therapy this week and will be in it for at least a month. With Brandon's injury and me being pregnant we have run into some interesting situations where we are kind of helpless. The doctor told me to only pick Brent up when necessary and seeing as Brandon can't pick him up at all, I am the one having to do all the lifting. Also, with the weather getting warm it is time to till the garden, plant flowers, lay mulch, powerwash the house, tend to the lawn, etc. Brandon can pretty much do none of these things so needless to say life has been interesting. I am doing as much as I physically can and with the help of some friends and family we are slowly but surely checking off our list. Just the other day I bought some dog food for Pumpkin (the bag is 45 lbs) and had to get an associate to put it in my car and then when I got home had to get a neighbor to carry it in my house. If nothing else we are definitely learning to swallow our pride and ask for help!

This video cracks me up because this is not the first time Brandon has used Pumpkins leash to pull things since hurting his shoulder. We had some lumber (with nails) in our yard that we needed to move for safety reasons and there were some pieces too heavy for me to carry. One day I looked outside and saw that Brandon had tied one end of pumpkin's leash to the wood and the other end around his waist and was dragging it across the yard! It was pretty funny! Brandon is a great dad and despite his current disability is doing all he can to still interact and play with Brent!

Hunting for Eggs

Brent had his first Easter Egg Hunt today with the Crayola Moms Group. He was sporting a cool army truck Easter Basket that his Nana got for him. It didn't take him long to get the concept of finding the colorful "balls" as he calls them and putting them in his basket.

After the hunt was over he enjoyed looking through all the eggs at his new treasures. He got some really cool toys (the eggs weren't allowed to be filled with candy). He got a yo-yo, bouncy ball, bubbles, stickers, noise makers, etc.

I've always enjoyed holidays but celebrating them with a child brings on a whole new level of excitement and joy! I love this kid!!

18 MONTHS

Brent had his 18 month check-up last week and we were shocked by how much weight he had gained. He has never really been a "chunky" baby...he usually stays below 25% in weight. However, this time he weighed in at 28 lbs (gaining 4 lbs in 3 months) and was 33 inches long. Putting him in the 75% for both height and weight. His size ofcourse doesn't matter but it is always fun seeing how much he's grown since I typically don't notice being around him all the time.

What amazes me most is how people-smart Brent is. He really reminds me of Brandon with this character trait. Brent loves to be in a room full of people and just sit back and watch. He is so observant and is quick to copy what someone else does. Even though he isn't speaking in sentences yet he can understand just about anything you tell him.

Right now Brent is really into buckles. He has recently learned how to buckle himself into his carseat and booster seat. He spent a long time concentrating and practicing until he finally learned how to do it. He has really gotten into balls lately and you can bet one of the first 2 words out of his mouth in the morning are either "ball" or "dada". Which brings me to his next love, dada. Brent is really attaching to his dada lately. When we run around town days he will point at other men and shake his head saying "that's not dada". If we pass a white truck he will shake his head and say, "that's not dada". He looks for him everywhere we go! It is so endearing.

We love Brent so much and enjoy watching him learn and grow every day.

This is a pic of Brent playing bball with his early Easter present from Grandma.

Nursery!

Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Brent is in nursery now! Seriously? I mean, I just had him like yesterday, right?! In our church you don't start nursery until you are 18 months old. We have been waiting for this day for quite a few Sundays since 3 hours is a brutally long time for a 1-year-old to sit still and be reverent. Well, Brent officially started nursery last Sunday. Now he is with us for the first hour but stays in the nursery where they play, learn about Jesus, and eat snacks for the last 2 hours. This is typically a tough transition for children at this age because they are at the point where they realize Mommy just left them. So, he did cry when I left but then calmed down for about an hour and then got upset again. Someone came and brought him to me at this point. We went back in for about the last 15 minutes. So it is a working progress but we will get there!
